Adding smart control to your reticulation system will ensure that your lawn and beds stay watered and that water usage is regulated, allowing you to control your watering schedules based on things like sunset and sunrise, current weather conditions (as reported by B.o.M or localised sensors), sensors can measure the water content of the soil and switch individual zones in your watering program once the thresholds are reached saving you money and saving water wastage.

We are constantly hearing buzz words like Smart Wiring being used by builders to describe nothing more than a few data points around the house, so what really is smart wiring?
"Smart Wiring" is defined here as,
Smart Wiring is a system that enables the combination of many different types of wires used around the home into a single platform, which allows for the integration of many different smart home systems and sensors throughout your home, and the capacity to add more at a later date if you want to do so.
So, Smart Wiring is smart in the sense that it is a good idea, however it is not smart in the sense that it is intelligent. It is however the back bone upon which the devices on your local area network connect to the world wide web.
So, why do you need "Smart Wiring"?, in todays connected world of billions of devices and servers all across the globe sharing data between themselves, our lives are becoming increasingly reliant on access to this data, such as music and TV streaming services, that require large amounts of traffic between their servers and your home.
This traffic is handled far more effectively across mediums such as copper or fibre optics, than it is through the air. Wi-Fi is a wonderful thing, but without a very solid and expensive infrastructure it is impossible to transfer the sheer quantity of data provided by high definition streaming services over a standard Wi-Fi network.
It is therefore recommended that a relatively inexpensive "Smart Wired", or hard wired network be installed.
“Smart Wiring” also facilitates the connection of devices in your home such as sensors, door locks, and CCTV as well as lighting control systems and heating and cooling systems to the world wide web. Allowing you to monitor and control your home from anywhere in the world where an internet connection is available.
Imagine you are on holiday and someone rings your doorbell, it’s the delivery driver with that package you were expecting before you left, you answer the door on your smart phone and instruct the driver to leave the parcel with a neighbour.
Or, you are leaving the office after a hard day at work, you send a message to your house that you are coming home, upon entering a predefined perimeter from your home, the heating and cooling systems turn on to your desired temperature and the outside lights come on to guide you in.
Or, You have left the house and forgotten to lock the back door, or close the garage door. Your house soon recognises the fact that the house appears to be unoccupied and sends you an alert that the back door is unlocked or the garage door is open, you just open your control app on your phone and at the touch of a button your home is once again secure.
Give us a call to discuss all your “Smart Wiring” and “Smart Home” requirements before you talk to your builder, as we can guide you through the prerequisites that are best put in place during the build process.
